Meet Laurence

Laurence Vandenborre is an experienced Belgian jewelry designer based in Antwerp. At the age of fourteen she was already selling her own handmade jewelry set with Swarovski pearls. But her true dream? Designing and marketing her very own fine jewelry collection.

With her master’s degree at HEC in Marketing & Management and her degree in Gemology from the Gemological Institute of America, Laurence began chasing her dream to become a jewelry designer in 2015. For five years she worked at HRD Antwerp, a renowned diamond laboratory in Antwerp. First as a senior Lecturer and then as Marketing Manager.

In 2018 Laurence launched her first fine jewelry collection. All her designs are a true embodiment of her vision: stylish and luxury jewelry pieces that can be worn every day by women from every walk of life. Elegant pieces that reflect their personal style, their character, and that make them feel unique and confident. Laurence does not only offer a material asset, she translates her clients’ stories into pieces which will be passed through generations.

Laurence strongly believes that a jewelry piece is linked to a cherished memory.

That is exactly what her collections with precious stones reflect: colorful and elegant luxury to highlight a precious moment in life. Diamonds (natural or lab-grown), sapphires, beryls, garnets and tourmalines are the centerpieces of her collections and come from all over the world (Madagascar, Sri Lanka, Columbia, Thaïland,...).

As Laurence stands for high quality, all her jewels are made by hand in 18K gold in her ateliers in Belgium and Italy. She cares about quality and transparency, and therefore ethically analyses and selects all the gems she offers. Jewelry set with both natural and lab grown diamonds of a certain carat weight comes with grading reports issued by a renowned certification lab, as transparency towards the customer is her number one priority.

Laurence offers an online store, but before placing an order, you can meet her face-to-face to try on her jewelry designs. Either by appointment during the year in her showrooms/offices in Antwerp, Liège & Paris, or by visiting her in one of her seasonal pop-up stores, private evenings, or in selected boutiques.

Diamonds, thoughtfully chosen

Each piece of fine jewelry is crafted using either natural diamonds or lab-grown diamonds, selected with the same uncompromising standards for beauty, quality, and craftsmanship.

While their origins differ, both offer exceptional brilliance and durability. By working with both, Laurence gives her clients the freedom to choose what best reflects their values and vision — without ever compromising on elegance or design.

Laboratory grown diamonds are created in a laboratory or factory rather than occurring in nature and mined from the earth. They are not a diamond’s imitation like a cubic zirconium.

The reason why Laurence wanted to start promoting lab grown diamonds is because she believes they have the right to exist on the market and have their own audience. She believes that some customers would like to spend their engagement ring budget on a bigger lab grown diamond rather than having a smaller natural counterpart for the same amount of money. As jewelry designer and gemologist, Laurence's role is to promote different kind of stones and to find THE ONE which fits the believes, tastes, and wallet of her customers.

Kwaliteit

Laurence heeft een hechte band met al haar hoogopgeleide producenten, goudsmeden en zetters in België en Italië. Op die manier behoudt ze de controle over alle kwaliteitseisen. Ze kiest en selecteert alle stenen zelf: ze moeten allemaal een ethische achtergrond hebben. Die goedgekeurde edelstenen worden vervolgens zorgvuldig met de hand tot een juweel gesmeed in lokale ateliers. Zo ben je er zeker van dat jouw designerjuweel van hoogstaande kwaliteit is.
Envoud

Less is more. Daarom ontwerpt Laurence elegante en verfijnde juwelen die je elke dag kan dragen en die geschikt zijn voor elk budget. Transparantie

Transparantie is cruciaal voor Laurence. Met veel plezier neemt ze je mee op reis door het hele ontwerp van je juweel en deelt ze alle geheimen van het productieproces. Ze gebruikt alleen hoogkwalitatieve materialen en houdt het hele proces goed in de gaten: het ontwerp zelf, het 3D-ontwerp en het eigenlijke vervaardigen van het juweel. Bij elke stap zorgt ze ervoor dat alles voldoet aan haar hoge kwaliteitseisen.
Antwerpen

Het atelier van Laurence Vandenborre staat in Antwerpen: het hart van de diamantwereld sinds 1447. Dankzij het Antwerp Diamond Heritage werkt ze nauw samen met ervaren producenten, goudsmeden en zetters en houdt ze de strikte controle over alle kwaliteitsnormen. Voor handgemaakte en gepersonaliseerde designerjuwelen van Belgische makelij moet je bij Laurence zijn.
Stenen

Laurence werd edelsteenkundige in 2015. Ze analyseert en kiest elke diamant en edelsteen zelf uit. Elke steen moet een ethische herkomst hebben. Bovendien beschikken ze allemaal over een beoordelingsrapport van gerenommeerde laboratoria. Zo ziet jouw handgemaakt en gepersonaliseerd juweel er niet alleen adembenemend uit, de achtergrond ervan is ook onberispelijk. Laurence koopt de stenen bij lokale groothandelaars. Op die manier kan ze competitieve prijzen aanbieden in vergelijking met traditionele juweliers.
Ervaring

Jij verdient het neusje van de zalm. Daarom krijgt elk juweel een elegant en zorgvuldig handgemaakt ontwerp in het atelier van Laurence. Ze gebruikt enkel hoogkwalitatieve materialen zoals 18K goud en platina en houdt nauwgezet toezicht op elke stap van het productieproces. Het schetsen van je ontwerp, het maken van een 3D-ontwerp en het daadwerkelijk vervaardigen van het juweel: elke stap krijgt haar onverdeelde aandacht.
